Laura Graham’s life has always been fueled by art.
Paintings, drawings, graphics and textile art pour from her fertile inspiration. Choosing to pursue a career in dance for a number of years exercised her passion for creating fluid, living art. During those years her drawings and paintings focused on the human form in motion, and energy. As a costume-maker, she designed pieces to enhance the lines and flow of dance.
Changing gears to take the position of Gallery Director at Mickelson Gallery in Washington, D.C., gave Laura an opportunity to curate shows and work with artists. Here she discovered the sculpture of Robert Cook, who had done a show there in 1971. Pictures of his work deeply resonated with her dance sensibilities and she was compelled to meet him. Since then she has represented Cook, first through Mickelson Gallery, then the William W. Parker Gallery, and now, independently.
